(Undated)  --  A new survey has found that the average American spends $936 on eating out per year.

In the poll, which was conducted by Visa, Americans out to lunch about twice per week, and spend about $18 per week.

One percent of the over 1,000 respondents reported eating out at expensive restaurants very frequently, saying they spend more that $50 dollars on lunches out.

Thirty percent however said they never go out to eat lunch, while only two-point-five percent say they do every day.  The survey also found that women are thriftier than men when it comes to eating out.

Men outspend women on a weekly basis by 44 percent.
