(Undated)  --  Food stamps are feeding tens of millions of children in the U.S.

An annual report from the Department of Agriculture shows about 45-percent of SNAP benefits went to people under age 18 in the 2012 fiscal year.

Lawmakers have been voicing concerns about the growing costs of the program and debates over who is actually benefiting from it.

About four in ten SNAP recipients are in a household with one working member.

Experts say that often indicates the family isn't bringing in enough money to feed their children without the government's help.
